North Ridgewood Transitional
For this 100-year-old home, Idea Space was tasked with renovating the kitchen to better accommodate a multi-generational family. With a desire to keep the kitchen in its current location, the intent was to fully remodel within the current footprint while incorporating space saving efficiencies to maximize its functionality. The effect is a highly functional kitchen that belies its modest size.

The new plan for the kitchen was developed with the client, who has a keen eye for detail and appreciation for good design. Elements were selected that reflected the client’s desire for a sophisticated space that was bright, airy and functional. Soft gray custom cabinets provided a clean backdrop.
Besides providing additional storage space and counter surfaces, the new cabinets concealed appliances, a radiator, and broom closet, creating visual uniformity. Warming the space and adding instant character was the installation of antique reclaimed wood flooring, giving the room an inviting, lived-in feel.
For a family who loves to cook and eat together, the design was centered around the client’s desire for a 60-inch range. Instead of dwarfing the room, the oversized range was designed to fit seamlessly into the space. Now, with everything within reach and tucked away, the new kitchen meets this large family’s everyday needs.
