Maplewood House Renovation

In the renovations to this 1920's home in Maplewood, New Jersey we maintained the details of the time period while strategically infusing modern design elements. The kitchen, bathroom and powder room were completely updated with modern fixtures and finishes bringing them to current day living standards.  Years of paints and stains were stripped from the woodwork in the living room, dining room, main stair and hall way exposing ninety year old chestnut trim details and quarter sawn white oak flooring.  As with many houses built in the early 1900s, this home lacked adequate closet space for its family of four. Therefore, some rooms were modified to allow for the addition of closets where none existed.  The overriding design concept behind each decision made was to maximize natural light in order to create a warm, inviting living environment.
